Dennis
Guest Home is a unique sober living home for women. Established
in 1955 by Joseph and Jessie Lee Dennis, the house originally
provided elderly Santa Barbara residents with a place to live
in dignity and safety. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis also gave food and
shelter to many indigent families in the Santa Barbara area.
Since that time, the Dennis family home has gone through three
generations of use as a place where people in need can find refuge
and assistance – serving first elders, then people with
disabilities, and now women afflicted by the deadly combination
of chemical dependence and poverty. The house was turned into
a sober living facility for women in 1996. In 1999 Jacquelyn Dennis
Boyette, the founders’ granddaughter, assumed management
of the facility.
